Queen Anneās County features a great variety of natural habitat resources and recreational opportunities.
These include:
- Wye Island Natural Resource Management Area, occupies most of Wye Island and some acreage on the mainland.
The island and surrounding area host many research facilities and public policy conferences run by the University of Maryland and the Aspen Institute. Of recent international significance, the Wye Island
Peace Accords between Israel and Palestine were negotiated here in the fall of 1998.
- Tuckahoe State Park, straddles the line between Queen Anneās County and Caroline County.
- Matapeake State Park, on Kent Island, offers recreational opportunities including fishing and boat ramp
access to the Chesapeake Bay.
- Horsehead Wetlands Center, run by the Wildfowl Trust of North America, is a wetlands preserve demonstrating
wildfowl and wetlands conservation, education, and research.
- Conquest Farm, recently protected by the county, will offer educational opportunities based upon
agricultural and prehistoric legacies. The farm, a prime staging ground for migratory waterfowl, is located near the confluence of the Corsica and Chester Rivers.
