 (Dates are in 2012 for FY 2013 Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA).  Grants are for projects beginning after award in July 2012; no cash match may be spent prior to July).

NOTE:  Capital grants should be located within designated Target Investment Zones, unless they meet certain criteria for an exception.  If you think your project may meet exception criteria, please discuss this with Heritage Area staff before applying.  Designated Target Investment Zones include Betterton, Centreville, Chestertown, Denton, Easton, Federalsburg, Oxford, and Stevensville.

January 27        Intent to Apply deadline: Stories of the Chesapeake Heritage Area Intent to Apply form must be e-mailed to Deborah Divins Davis at info@storiesofthechesapeake.org to qualify for technical grant assistance, from the time of your submission through February 15 (call for fax instructions if you are unable to e-mail this form).

February 22     Final grant application submission deadline: FY 2013 MHAA Grant applications must be postmarked to Stories of the Chesapeake Heritage Area, c/o Talbot County Office of Tourism, 11 S. Harrison St,, Easton, MD  21601.  Hand delivered applications must be received by noon on February 24. 

 July                 Grants are awarded: funds match spending for projects may not begin until after award has been issued.

November        Generally, this timeframe is the earliest it is possible for the MHAA staff to issue grant agreements, and then the first disbursement of funds will be no more than 45 days following the full execution of the grant agreement. The agreement usually allows for an initial payment of up to 25% of the grant. Your final payment (usually 25%) is not made until the project is complete and all final report paperwork is complete.
