In 1999, the four participating counties commissioned a study of the feasibility of Heritage Area Recognition and Certification for the Eastern Shore. Results of the study were presented to the Maryland
Heritage Area Authority as part of the Heritage Area Recognition process. After Heritage Area Recognition is achieved, ESHI will prepare a Management Plan, which is required for Heritage Area Certification.
