It is the conclusion of the Feasibility Study that the four counties of the Upper Eastern Shore have the potential to be
a flourishing, successful heritage area. The resources are important to the state and nation, and the residents possess the necessary drive and expertise to successfully achieve their vision for the
region.
Getting from here to there, however, will require efforts in the areas outlined in this report. This section
presents the recommendations of the HAP Team (predecessor to ESHI). The HAP Team made six recommendations for the heritage area and local governments and organizations.
How the region measures up to the MHAA Selection Criteria is discussed to present the potential of MHAA to accept the Upper Eastern Shore Heritage Area’s application for recognition.
Economic considerations for the region are supplied to demonstrate the requirements of MHAA to analyze the potential economic benefit of heritage area development in these four counties.
The main findings from each section are summarized. Lastly, this section looks ahead to the next steps and explains the procedures to take this project from an idea to state certification.
